Get involved!

Is your organisation holding a history event during History Week 2019? If so, let us know so that we can include you in the 2019 History Week calendar. Send us an email at info@historyweek.org.au.

And help spread the word! Speak to your local school, newspaper, radio station and community groups and invite them to become involved with and promote History Week 2019.

Your event can be anything that is history related: a guided walk, a talk, a lecture, a film or slide night, a storytelling night, your  monthly meeting, an exhibition, an open day, a launch, a display, a history bookclub … be inventive.

Engage with your local school and library or your local footy club or CFA, get your local cafe to run a nostalgic WWI menu, ask your community to allow your society to scan their photos, get your local hairdresser to run a masterclass in how to create 1940s hair-dos, get the local choir to do an evening of bush ballads, start a Facebook competition on the best recipes from the depression … there is no limit to ways in which you and your community can engage in history.

The History Teachers Association of Victoria has a great list on their website of ways to get involved with schools
