The Former Court House is one of the oldest standing public buildings in the Goldfields. Built in 1852, originally as a Police Station, it became Castlemaine’s first Court House. It was the site of the first Goldfields sitting of the Supreme Court, presided over by Justice (later Sir) Redmond Barry. Now the home of Castlemaine Historical Society Inc, you are invited to visit this historic building. Society members will be on hand to answer your questions.
